Limited Release
From Townsite Brewing out of Powell River comes the “Shiny Penny Belgian IPA”. Having a Belgian brewmaster this brewery has been playing with Belgian yeasts. This makes a beer geek such as myself happy. This brew pours an amber/brown colour with an off white head. The aroma consists of sweet citrus, floral hops and mild yeast. Being a Belgian style beer there is a strong yeast flavour as well as citrus, pine and a strong hops bitterness. This beer is oh so shiny! The alcohol content is 8.5% and the IBU is 80.
Commercial Description: Belgian IPA is a relatively new beer style in North America and is marked by a higher ABV, strong hops and a delicate fruity nose. Think: grapefruit & passion fruit mix in a heavenly marriage of boozy elixir. This is a bottle-conditioned beer that is well-suited for storage for up to 5 years.
The name is a nod to the gastropub that Brewer Engineer Cedric Dauchot and his wife, Brewery Manager Chloe Smith, planned to open in Saskatoon. Fortunately for everyone in BC, this didn’t pan out and they moved to Powell River to head the brew crew at Townsite instead!
