I finally made my way out to Gibsons to check Persephone Brewing Company. Instead of driving over to the sunshine coast though I did the much more fun and much more active alternative. Between riding my bike and taking transit and the ferry I made my way to the brewery. One helpful hint is if you are going to ride to the brewery its all uphill but the ride back to the ferry is amazing. I picked a silly day to make my way to the brewery as there was a heavy rain warning (and it was not a false alarm). Below is my video of my trip!
I did not actually know what Persephone Brewing looked like when I headed out on the road for my trip. It looks like a barn witch really fits well with the fact that they are located on ALR (Agricultural Land Reserve) land and will be supplying most of the hops they will use in the future. The big red barn has a great tasting room with lots of seats and a couch and some nice comfy seats.
Persephone Brewing currently only has the standard licencing that alows you to have one 12oz glass with free tasters but plan on upgrading to a full lounge in the future. They have live music on Saturday afternoons to go along with the very friendly small town vibe. They do Growler fills off of growler guns so you can bring home beer like I did (all 8 liters of fresh beer). They also have 650ml bombers and 6 packs of their Golden Ale. This is a tiny brewery with lots of room for expansion. If you have not made your way there yet I really recommend grabbing your bike on a nice day (or a shitty one like I did) an bomb over for a day. Otherwise drive over and make a weekend out of it! Who doesn’t want fresh beer on a camping trip or at a bed and breakfast?
